Jesu Kristi Kirke Af Sidste Dages Hellige

30 November Saturday
in Copenhagen

We all woke up around 8:30, and we made some pancakes and eggs that Joost had left for us.  YUM!!!  He even had syrup...man I miss syrup.  We ate it up pretty quick, and rushed to the temple for our baptism appointment? at 9:30.  The temple is just down the street from his apartment!!  LUCKY US.
What a beautiful building!!!  Our session was awesome.  We were the only ones there.  The temple president and his wife were from somewhere in Utah (of course).  They were super nice and funny.  We got to do 15 names.  Some of the baptisms they said in Danish for us so we could hear it.  It was a good start to our day!  I'm so happy we got to do that...it was something we were totally not planning on until last minute.  Who would have thought going into this study abroad program that we would be in Copenhagen doing baptisms at the temple? . . . so random and great.
We stopped at a grocery store "Super Best". . . and a fun store called "Tiger" right next to it.  That store was so great!  They had the funniest things . . . and cute things.  It kinda reminded me of the section in Urban Outfitters that isn't clothing, like all the books and clever things that are funny.   We got a couple Christmas things for decent prices that I'm really happy about.
We went back to the apartment and changed clothes and cleaned up from breakfast.  Haley, Amy and I packed up our things and cleaned our areas (we flew out tonight--the twins don't leave till tomorrow morning).  We planned our day then headed out!!!
Some last photos of the great apartment --
Amy next to the blank spot where she stole a post-up poster. hahaaa.
We went back to Nyhavn street/canal.  It was beautiful in the daytime with clear weather!  Oh my gosh.  Just look at this!!!!!!  Just an entire row of COLOR and little BOATS and the clearest water I've ever seen in my life!  Especially for being by all the docks.
We got back on the Metro, and went back one stop....we walked along these huge walking streets that were decorated so great for Christmas!  We popped in some shops while headed toward Our Lady's Church. . .  or the Church of our Lady?  This church has the original Christus sculpture in it--the one in Salt Lake is modeled after this sculpture.
This was awesome....I think a funeral had just ended in here, because it was totally empty, and a bunch of people were leaving when we got there.  There were flowers leading up the middle isle.  This sculpture though!!  I have only seen it one time in Salt Lake I think, and I was really little.  I wish we could have gone up close to it.  It is behind their altar and everything in this Catholic church.  It is just beautiful.
there are footprints to all the trash cans....ROME NEEDS THIS
buildup of posters!! haha!!

Oh, we found this awesome antique shop!!!  The lady was closing up when we got there, but we were still able to look around and even get a few little things.   She had the best stuff!  The room was SO crowded and it was no good with our big backpacks . . . so I didn't even get any pictures.  But oh well, it was wonderful.
Amy called this "the trifecta" = 7/11 (they were everywhere here!), Burger King, and then KFC.
Our last stop was at the Radhaus . . . their parliament building?  This square around it was all lit up and busy busy with a giant Christmas tree in it and a man singing!  So great.  There is a famous statue of Hans Christan Andersen (he wrote the Little Mermaid, and some other stories?).  Tivoli Gardens is across the street!
Stupid money here . . . 18 dk = $1.  I THINK.  It was so confusing the whole time.
Oh, then of course we found a Christmas market.
Our walk brought us back to Nyhavn street.  We sat on one of the docks for 15 minutes resting our legs.  The twins left to go to a cemetery then get back to the apartment.  It was 6:00 by now.  We were so tired!  Amy and Haley and I left on the Metro to the airport.  Complicated to explain, but there are two metro lines that run on the same tracks, and we didn't notice this whole time, but some guy overheard us saying we were going to the airport, and luckily he spoke English and could tell us that we had to get off and transfer to the M2!  That was the last stop we could transfer.  We wouldn't have noticed till we got to the end of the line...and we would have been who knows where.  So luckily we were able to switch so we could make it to the airport in time!
So their self-checkins at these airports are great.   You just select your airline, then scan your passport, then it prints out your ticket.  These should be everywhere.
I can't remember if these are on cigarette packets in the US?  Or is it just here?

We boarded our plane at 7:30 and flew off at 8!!  We got a candy bar too.  Yay.  Back in Vienna around 10.
Home, sweet Vienna.   Hahaha.
I just love all the Christmas decorations everywhere.

This was a great trip to end on.  It was really relaxed, we never felt rushed to see anything, and everything we walked past was awesome.  We got to stop wherever we wanted and look in old buildings and just have a great time together.  We liked to call this our vacation for the end of our travels, haha.  And, like I said before, the apartment really helped us enjoy this trip a lot more than we would have otherwise.  Another big thanks to Joost.  This is definitely a place I want to come back to someday.
