Day 2 in the city of Double-Deckers

16 November Saturday

We rose early again this morning, and this group of us headed to Notting Hill to the Portabello street market.  It has the cutest colorful houses!  And tons of antique shops.  Haley, Monika, Stephanie and I got really caught up in this one man's stand with some legitimate vintage maps of different countries/areas around the world--mostly Europe.  We all ended up getting one or two things from him...I am obsessed.  I got one of the Austria area in 1903.  It is just beautiful.

Haley, Stephanie, Monika and I left at 9:30 from the market street all the way to the other side of town to Tower Bridge and the Tower of London.  There was a great castle...and the famous bridge.  We didn't have much time to learn about it all, because we were trying to get back to Buckingham Palace by 11!  We walked halfway across the bridge and back, then around the castle....then we took the tube back to Buckingham Palace to see the changing of the guards at 11:30.  We couldn't see a THING.  But it was still cool to BE there for it....we left and walked through a park on our way to the next tube station.

These dang squirrels were so used to people being all over the place that they would come up to your hand if you acted like you had food for them!!!  We saw some climbing on people's laps!!!! haha!!

So we rode to this stop by Baker street and got there around 12:20, and we found a grocery store around the street where I got (yes, again) bagels and pineapple cottage cheese and donuts...hahahaha.  It was so yummy okay!!  Our (stupid) easybus was coming to pick us up at 1:15 from that area.  This time it all went smoothly, and we made it to the airport with plenty of time!!  We had a few pounds leftover, so we bought some Starbucks drinks...those holiday drinks are out now!!  AHHH the vanilla cream peppermint frappuccino.  OH my gosh.  Heavenly for wintertime, even though it is cold.
this is how Haley sleeps on planes
We flew back to Bratislava, losing an hour, so we arrived around 8:00 I think.  Mostly of our group was too tired to keep doing anything, so they took the 8:42 bus home.  BUT NOT US!  You know we wanted to get every hour out of this trip we could!  So we went into town in Bratislava and went back to that Slovak Pub we went to our very first trip!!  Such a cool place and not a SOUL speaks English...we had to act out what we were wanting.  It was just great.  We got McSundae's at McD's after hahahah.  It was fun to not be rushed, and we made it back to the train station in time, and made it home to Vienna around 11:45.
