Pre-Prague

7 November Thursday

For German today, we had a SUB...(and she was way better than our usual teacher...but shhh).  No really, she taught us in ENGLISH the language of GERMAN instead of hoping we will magically understand what is coming out of her mouth.  We cleared up MANY confusions that we had from before...it would be great to have her teach us every once in a while.  The other students who are in German 201 have her as a teacher.  LUCKY.

For Austrian History we got a surprise going on a field trip!  We went to the Imperial Crypt where Maria Theresia's tomb is and her family.  These tombs are nuts.  But their organs are in some other crypt, and their hearts are in yet another crypt.  Soooo yeah....here are some of the tombs.  Yikes.

So this one is Maria Theresia's.  It is huge!  Her husband is in there too.  After he died, for 10 years she would go down there pretty occasionally and stand by his tomb and stuffffff, then she died.  Their busts are on top looking at each other as if they are sitting up in the tomb...haha creeeepy.

Sissi's husband...learned about them yesterday in her palace tour

SO it was SO WARM today!  This is what I wore!  Hahaha, welcome November!

So during our excursion to the crypt, Mara informed the Prague group (Haley, the twins, Kimber and me) that our train was going to leave at 4:32...We thought it left at 5:39!  Our class ended at 3:30, and so we BOOKED it home, and I took the fastest shower, grabbed my things for the weekend, and left the apartment at 4:00.  I went SO FAST (not quite running) and BARELY made it to the train with Kimber.  What the heck!!  I hate this rush, but whatever we made it.  We knew it was going to be tight. There was another train at 6:30 but we just really wanted to make this one.

So we rode a 5 hour train ride to PRAGUE!  Wooooah.  The six of us had a whole cabin in the train together.  We had an awesome talk...like so awesome.  So awesome that I can't write about it here, only in the six pages it filled up in my journal.  Basic subjects (heavy subjects): pornography, rape, and women being mistreated by men all over....etc.  It was a really interesting/hard discussion.

ANYWAYS

We pulled into Prague at 10:30, and somehow oriented ourselves in the dark, through the new city, through the old town, across the bridge to our hostels!  We were split between two hostels...Haley, Kimber and I joined this trip late so we had our own hostel.  Mango Hostel.  It was super nice!  So happy about that.  Clean and easy and not creepy.  We had a room with 6 beds for just the three of us!  We got to sleep around 11 I think.

AND IT WAS KIMBER'S 21st BIRTHDAY TODAY!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY HERE'S A TRIP TO PRAGUE!
